Machines

OT Mk2_edited.jpg

Elektron

Octatrack MKII

The centre piece. Everything ends up in these boxes and becomes a track based on the sequences that are created. Then the real joy - performing live with these things.

Elektron

Machinedrum MKII UW

Dream drum machine. Digitally gritty and flexible to the extreme. This silver box may not be the newest drum machine around but there's a good reason it's considered to be a modern classic, It simply sounds immense.

Jomox

Alpha Base

Thumping analog drums. Berlin's boutique manufacturer's evolution of the famous Roland drum machines.

Elektron

Digitone

Frequency Modulation Synthesis without the headache. Great machine for those glassy tones and atonal sounds from the 80s. And millions of ideas beyond that too.

Novation

Peak

The Workhorse. There is nothing this synth does better than other synths. But - this synth does many things and it does them really well. The sounds from this thing end up on nearly everything I do.

Norand

Mono

A little French powerhouse. An analog dual oscillator synth engine with a great built in sequencer and bonkers modulation. Like the distant cousin of the TB303 but with the flexibility of a Yoga Instructor.

Novation

Super Bass Station

From 1997 comes Novation's analog mono synth with incredible body and weight to its sound. And a filter that cries out to have the resonance pushed for those acid tones.

Behringer

2600

Okay - so this might not be ARP's original beauty from 1972, but it's a pretty good remake and demands the user to learn how synthesis works - or you can just slide things around and enjoy making noises that would be perfect for Star Trek.

Behringer

Model D

Behringer made fans and enemies galore when they made their version of the classic Moog machine. Regardless of your perspective on the morality of such action - it does sound great and I haven't the room for the original anyway.

Behringer

TB-3 MO

Another remake - however, there are some modifications to the original at least. A ferocious analog mono synth with the world's most complicated sequencer known to man. Learn to programme patterns in this thing successfully and you are ready to head up NASA's next project.

OTO

Biscuit

Bit Crushing effects and also a pretty terrific monosynth. The Biscuit is a beautiful box of anger and magic.

OTO

Boum

Devastating distortion and warm compression. This sits on my main out for live performances to keep dynamics in check and add that glue.
